Etiquette, tea and history

February 27th 2026

Join me for a delightful evening exploring the Victorian era! The Victorian Hostess is our most popular event, and for good reason!

During this presentation, we navigate the span of 1837 through 1901, from the Antebellum period through the Gilded Age. Fashion, fine dining, and every aspect required of the perfect uppercrust Victorian hostess, versus that of the Matchgirls. We cover the good, the bad, and even the stinky! There is no subject too taboo.

March 18th, 2026

Let's take a trip back to the Regency era, and visit the characters Jane Austen immortalized! We will explore the world that Jane lived in, and discuss everything from ballrooms to parlors, as well as the immortal question: is Mr. Darcy the ultimate romantic hero?

Examples of era specific nibbles and libations will be provided. Dress in your Regency best, or your comfortable best.

Seats are $30 each.

With spring approaching, it's the perfect time to enroll your young ladies and gentlemen in Manners courses!

Junior Manners attend three thirty minute classes, and celebrate completion with a parents tea party, where they can show off their new skills!

Covered in the curriculum are the following:

Are your hands clean? How to be a crud buster

Sitting at the dinner table - do we swing our legs? Napkins in the lap/no elbows/stand for your elders

Please and thank you

Boogers don't belong on fingers

Burping inside yourself

Holding a knife and fork

Basic table setting, which fork/spoon to use

Passing food, asking for salt

Serving yourself, no licking spoons

Serving others

Pulling out the chair for a lady/elder

May I be excused?

What to do at end of meal - napkin on plate, etc

Junior Manners is open to children up to twelve years old. Curriculum covers table manners and social etiquette: please and thank you, respect of adults, sitting properly, which fork goes with what, basic table setting, and much more!

The cost is $150 per student. We do offer a multi student discount, so please reach out via Messenger to receive that discount.

Classes are March 16th and 23rd and April 6th at 7:00pm. Graduation tea party is April 11th at 2:00pm.

The first lesson starts before the students arrive: please arrive on time! Tardiness sets a bad tone.

It's never too late to teach an old dog new tricks! Refine your polite social skills and gain confidence for formal and business events. We will cover everything from napkin placement to which fork goes with what. 

This is a great course for upcoming weddings, social events, or just brushing up on your skills.

APRIL 8th, 2026

Katherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, and Catherine Parr. There was so much more to these women than what Henry VIII spun. Who was jealous of a previous wife? Whose heart was said to be black after her death?

Join us for a fascinating journey into Tudor England; where being a woman made you a commodity rather than a person.

Nibbles and libations provided. Feel free to where your Tudor best!

Charm School

The charm school your grandmother attended is back!

Yes, this is "old school" charm school!

This course is for young ladies and gentlemen age 13 to 18. Items covered include posture, table manners, dance etiquette, walking in high heels, confidence in job and college interviews, and many other fine details.

Think of this as your master class for advancing from youth to adulthood. If you have an upcoming cotilion, prom or college interview, you need this class to polish up the diamond!

The course is broken up into three 45 minute classes, and a fourth 60 minute class, where students will dress up and give their new skills a trial run.

Classes are:

April 22nd, 29th, and May 6th

$150 per student, with a multi student discount available upon request.

Each class starts promptly at 7:00pm. The first lesson starts before arrival: do not be tardy!

He was known as the people's author, the man who took Christmas, a minor holiday, and turned it into what it is today with one small novel. But there was so much more to Mr. Dickens. Some would say his need to be loved tore a family apart, and would be his own ruin.

OCTOBER 7th, 2026

Meet us on the anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe's death, and learn the truth about the man behind the raven. We will discuss how he became the master of the macabre, and his mysterious death.

OCTOBER 13th, 2026

Join us as we explore the mass hysteria of colonial Massachusetts, based in the fear of witchcraft. No one was safe from accusation in Salem. More than 200 people were accused. Thirty were found guilty, nineteen executed by hanging. Who were the accusers, and who were the accused? Find out October 13th.

OCTOBER 16th, 2026

Join me for a macabre edition of the Victorian Hostess! One of our most popular events, this time we're taking a look at Victorians' fascination with death.

During this presentation, we will explore the funeral traditions, the interest in an afterlife, photographing the dead, and even the fascination with murder mysteries.

Learn the art of creating stunning tablescapes! Take your hostess skills to the next level with this fun and creative course. We will cover plating, silverware placement, serving styles, the use of candles and greenery, and many other aspects of creating a mood. This is the perfect course going into the holiday seaaon!

DECEMBER 18th, 2026

We're opening the doors to our entire historic home for one night only, so you can enjoy a taste of history and what those Victorian holidays were like.

This event is everything you love about our regular Victorian Hostess events, but with a huge splash of holiday merriment! 

What were celebrations like? Which traditions have lasted, and which have faded into history?

We're going to be decking the halls, so come relax, enjoy a cup of good cheer, and some yuletide carols.

So we don't have too many guests and not enough figgy pudding, ticketing availability will be limited, so please purchase early!
